I want to welcome you as a reader to this new blog. In this platform I want to bring to you my thoughts and ideas about “spiritual manna.” It is the kind that Jesus talks about in John 6:32 identified as the “true bread of heaven.” Accordingly, I want to focus on the following areas when I post on this blog:
- Spiritual growth
- Spiritual maturity
- Jesus’ life and ministry
- Jesus’ teachings
- The kingdom of God/heaven as an interpretive lens in which to see our day and times in which we live
- God’s daily provisions
- What it means to imitate Christ
- A life of service in the name of Jesus
- Embracing the gift of God’s grace
- Preparing ourselves to be blameless at His coming
- How spiritual maturity and growth is at the heart of a healthy church.
- How the church is and must remain Christ centered.
The ideas just listed will guide many of my entries. Your feedback, suggestions, and questions will be most welcomed.
Thomas a Kempis in his famous work, The Imitation of Christ, says this: “Make it your aim to meditate on the life of Christ.” As we pick up this challenge to meditate on the life of Christ, I will seek to demonstrate and apply how such a focus makes a difference in our daily lives and in the ongoing life of the church.
I want to close this initial blog with a thought on John 6:35 where Jesus says, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
Spiritual hunger and thirst can only be filled and satisfied with Jesus as our “bread life.” His person, ministry, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and current ministry at the right hand of God has provided a complete menu of spiritual food that satisfies now and forever.
May we all partake of that “true bread of heaven” daily so that we may grow more and more into the image of Christ to the glory of God! In Christian love,
